Poster Contest

 Hartwick’s Life Balance Credit program Poster Contest

 

Purpose

Students in the course will create a poster that visually communicates the purpose and benefits of Hartwick’s Life Balance Credit program—namely how engaging in academic/career, physical/emotional, social/community, and financial/health well-being activities leads to a tangible reward (the credit) and supports holistic student success. (Based on info from the college page.) 



Objectives of Contest

Interpret and translate one or more of the four “pillars” of the program into creative visuals:



Emphasize the idea of earning a credit ($250 per semester) by completing at least three activities.

Content requirements:


- Include a headline or tagline that captures “Life Balance Credit” in a meaningful way.

- Clearly show or imply the four pillars (academic/career, physical/emotional, social/community, health/financial).

- Include a visual or typographic reference to “$250 credit” (or similar wording) to emphasize the reward.

- Hartwick College branding: At minimum, include the college logo and one of the college colors



Judging criteria:

Relevance: How well the design reflects the Life Balance Credit program’s pillars and reward structure.

Creativity & originality: Use of imagery, typography, layout, and overall concept.

Clarity of message: Viewers should understand the program and its benefits after a glance.


Prizes:

1st place:gift card $25

2nd place: gift card $20

3rd place: gift card $15



Display/publication: The top entries may be printed and displayed around campus 



Judging:
Three Peer Pilots  and four Student Success Center Staff members will each select their top 3 choices. Their first choice received 5 points, their second choice received 4 points, and their third choice received 3 points. The vote winner will be the option that receives the highest total number of points.

Project 5 motion graphic sequence


For this project you have the choice to make:
1. an "Infographic
2. an original idea of your choice.

Details
  • sequence length = 30 seconds or more
  • size = HDTV 1920x1080
  • file type = exported as: h264 based ".mp4"


The animation should contain the following:

- at least 6 different cuts. Each cut should have a different camera angle and/or point of view and/or movement

- a sound track

- exported as an MP4

Upload you final MP4 to the Google Photos "Art213 FA25 Video" album.

How to animate layers in Photoshop

Animating Layers in Photoshop


 





Photoshop Video
- Open the "Timeline". You can find it under "Window"
To use video in Photoshop:

1) Drag a video file onto the Photoshop icon, it will appear in the Layers window and the Timeline window


2) Select the layer and "control"click to bring up the menu. Pick "convert to smart object"

3) To make a new video layer click the drop down menu on the videos timeline and click "new video group".

3a)You can duplicate video layers

4) Layer Adjustments, Blend modes and Opacity all work the same as still images


- To save your file "Save As" a .PSD

- To save the final video file goto "File" ---- "Render Video"

'Exporting' your video out of Photoshop



Step 1: Under 'File' go to 'Export' then select 'Render Video'


Step 2: Set up your video as seen below. 
Make sure to save it to the Desktop


It will take a few minutes to export


The .mp4 file will appear on your 'desktop'
